The spon­sor­ship prize of the IKMI goes to young musi­cians, con­duct­ors or com­posers, and is presen­ted around the world in con­junc­tion with nation­al or inter­na­tion­al music com­pet­i­tions. Prize-win­ners are giv­en wel­come oppor­tun­it­ies for appear­ances and/or per­form­ances, as well as a fin­an­cial reward. The first Kurt Mas­ur Prize was awar­ded dur­ing the Ger­man Music Com­pet­i­tion, which in 2017 was held in Leipzig.
